A major European research initiative has been launched to develop integrated solutions for textile waste recycling. The AUTOLOOP project lead by Fraunhofer aims to create a comprehensive circular recycling system that could process 1.24 million tonnes of textile waste annually by 2050, whilst potentially creating over 130,000 green jobs across the EU. In the lecture innovative technologies to automatically sort, trace, and recycle polyester-based textiles into high-quality fibres for new clothing will be presented.
