The European Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) aims to reduce energy consumption in Europe, conserve finite resources, alleviate environmental impact, save CO2 emissions, and thus stabilize the global climate. To achieve these goals, the EED sets energy efficiency targets for energy usage and supply. The means of achieving these targets are the responsibility of individual member states and are not prescribed by the EED. The German legislator implements the European framework requirements of the EED through the Building Energy Act (GEG), the revised Heating Costs Regulation (HeizkostenV), and the District Heating or Cooling Consumption and Billing Regulation (FFVAV).
These presentations aim to explore the connections between European directives, national implementation, and alignment with the national water strategy.
