The project H2 GeNeSiS aims at creating a market place for green hydrogen in the region of Stuttgart, by connecting hydrogen suppliers and users. Core elements include a purpose-built hydrogen pipeline running between the cities of Stuttgart and Esslingen alongside the river Neckar, as well as electrolysers located at the Stuttgart harbour site. Within the complementary project Green Hydrogen Hub Stuttgart (GH2S), 9 MW of electrolyser capacity are added. This allows for the green hydrogen supply of fuel cell busses operated by the public transport company SSB via the H2 GeNeSiS pipeline. H2 GeNeSiS has thus started delivering to its promise to stimulate the development of a green hydrogen region Stuttgart. H2 GeNeSiS is carried out by the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS), the municipal utilities Stadtwerke Stuttgart (SWS) and Stadtwerke Esslingen (SWE), the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) and the Steinbeis-Innovationszentrum Energieeffiziente und emissionsfreie Technologien (SIEET). H2 GeNeSiS receives funding from the state of Baden-Württemberg and the European Union. GH2S is carried out by SWS and financially supported by the Verband Region Stuttgart.
