Managing waste to cool down a warming world?

German RETech Partnership e.V., ISWA, Anja Schwetje, Beatrice Decker

Info
Methane and carbon dioxide emissions from dumpsites and landfills are a driver of global warming. Developing waste management systems with separate collection of biowaste and pre-treatment of residual materials not only supports recycling, substitution of fossil fuels, and resource protection - it is also a huge lever to fight climate change.

Conference

A keynote will draw the connection between waste management and climate protection. The following panel discussion will address the urgent need to reduce biodegradable waste ending up on dumpsites and landfills while at the same time creating opportunities using these organic materials. Furthermore, waste management and circular economy should become integral parts of national climate protection plans, while financing this infrastructure should also be considered at the national level.
