Membrane technology for climate protection and mitigation of climate change impacts

DGMT Deutsche Gesellschaft für Membrantechnik e.V., Mr. Norbert Selzer, Frau Franziska Blauth, Dr. Daniel Breite, Prof. Dr. Christine Kleffner

Info
Water interacts with climate in different ways. Treatment processes consume resources, require energy, or directly contribute to climate change by releasing greenhouse gases. The use of membranes has the potential to support adaptation strategies and minimize negative effects.

Conference

Many of the over 20 research institutes and 40 producing companies in the German Society for Membrane Technology (DGMT) e.V. are investigating ways to enhance processes—either by incorporating membranes into existing treatment systems or by using membrane technologies instead of conventional methods. This session will provide an update on the state of these investigations, including case studies from water and wastewater treatment that have already been realized or recent research directions and future potentials.
