  • NWRA is the secretariat for the ANS Z245 standards Equipment Technology and Operations for Wastes and Recyclable Materials, that covers mobile equipment, balers, compactors, material recovery facilities, transfer stations , and containers. The standards form the foundation of safety in the waste industry.
  • NWRA facilitates safety trainings with our partner Together for Safer Roads called Focus. It is designed to strengthen fleet safety culture through proven industry best practices and peer mentorship.
  • NWRA is working with consultants and academics on two projects to understand the root cause of all reported fatalities in the waste sector for the last 20 years, understanding how a cab could be redesigned to accommodate more people as our workforce expands.
  • NWRA serves as the industry convener to bringing together the industries safety professionals to implement our Severe Injury and Fatality Prevention Program and Fleet Maintenance Council.

All of this is just a snapshot of how NWRA is working to make the industry safer in the United States.
