With the VAK Innovation Award, the Verband der Arbeitsgeräte- und Kommunalfahrzeug-Industrie (VAK) once again aims to send a strong signal for progress and responsibility. Under the motto “Shaping Progress – Taking Responsibility”, the focus is on innovations that make technical, organizational, or digital challenges in waste management, street and sewer cleaning, and municipal vehicles more efficient and future-ready.
The award is aimed at VAK member companies presenting their innovations at the trade fair IFAT. Across two categories – “Vehicle/Equipment” and “Assembly/Component/Control Technology” – three prizes are awarded in each category, accompanied by prize money.
An independent jury – including representatives from the user associations Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungs-, Wasser- und Rohstoffwirtschaft (BDE) and Verband kommunaler Unternehmen (VKU), as well as experts from research and practice – evaluates the submissions based on their degree of innovation, sustainability, efficiency, and practical relevance.
The award ceremony will take place as part of IFAT 2026 – an ideal stage for visibility, networking, and exchange on the future of the industry.
