World Premiere: The First Fully Electric Deconstruction Site

What does the future of demolition look like?
Quiet, clean — and fully electric.

MMRHP Metzner Recycling, together with Siemens and Volvo, brings this vision to life with the world’s first fully electric deconstruction site. More than a technical milestone, it is a real, working example of how the industry can transform — today.

On this site, every step has been rethought, from decontamination and dismantling to structural deconstruction, recycling, and logistics. All processes are seamlessly connected, forming a circular system designed to reduce impact and maximize resource efficiency. The result is not only innovation you can see — but progress you can measure.

By replacing conventional machinery with electric equipment, the project has already saved around 70 tonnes of CO₂ — a powerful signal of what is possible when ambition meets execution.

Making this vision work required more than new machines. It demanded new thinking. A dedicated transformer and underground power infrastructure ensure a stable and safe energy supply. Teams were extensively trained to operate high-voltage electric equipment with confidence and precision. Every movement on site was carefully planned — machines, charging cycles, and workflows synchronized to use energy intelligently without overloading the grid.

What makes this project truly stand out is the collaboration behind it. Working closely together, and with Volvo driving operational coordination, all partners created a new rhythm for the construction site — one that is efficient, safe, and future-ready.

This is not just a project. It is a glimpse of what demolition can become: emission-free, circular, and responsible by design.
