Lucy Kölsch completed her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering at the University of Rostock. As part of her bachelor thesis, she did a small-scale project on Zanzibar dealing with the treatment of household waste using BSF-Larvae. She is now doing her master’s in urban ecosystem sciences at the technical university of Berlin focusing on urban agriculture topics. She is currently writing her master thesis about the potential of using compost from market waste as a part of substrates for urban gardening in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Furthermore, she is working as a working student in the field of geotechnics and civil engineering at CDM Smith Leipzig.
