Senior Advisor - the National Center for Waste Management – Saudi Arabia-
Throughout his more than 35-year career, Osama Taha oversaw a wide range of environmental and engineering projects, such as solid waste management and planning, recycling initiatives, landfill investigation and remediation, and strategic assessments. Since November 2019, Osama was assigned the position of a senior consultant to the newly established “National Center for Waste Management” (MWAN) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During this period, he provided strategic support and guidance to MWAN and its CEO on various strategic planning and technical fields during the start-up phase (prior to operation and afterwards). Key Tasks delivered included support for developing the new solid waste law for the kingdom, the “Strategic Master Plan” for waste management, a new licensing system for the waste sector, guidance on financial instruments and Tariffs as well as many other tasks deemed critical during the transitional phase of the sector in the Kingdom. Since December 2022, Osama was assigned the position of Senior Advisor to the CEO at MWAN, where he continues to lead key strategic projects and provide high level advisory support. Key projects lead by Osama include the development of comprehensive Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes for 7 products, the detailed Segregation at Source Design and program for 6 major waste streams as well as key roles in other projects such as the Investment Advisory, Cost Recovery, Financial Sustainability Entity, new Technical Guidelines among many others.
