In view of increasing demands for resource conservation, climate protection, and circular economy, innovative approaches to wastewater treatment and nutrient recovery are becoming increasingly relevant. The keynote speeches provide a simple overview of current projects being tested in various European cities and show how these concepts can be transferred from the pilot phase to large-scale application. It becomes clear that the introduction of such systems not only raises technical questions, but also poses organizational, legal, and social challenges.
Key questions will be addressed during a moderated panel discussion and expert exchange between international and German experts: What obstacles exist to widespread implementation? What regulatory and financial conditions are necessary to enable investment? And what role does social acceptance play in the success of such systems? The discussion will not only identify challenges, but also highlight solutions that enable an extended implementation.
