Stakeholders in the textile industry and their suppliers are highlighting concrete prospects and practical approaches to facilitate the use of recycled fibres in various textile applications and establish them in the long term. Against a backdrop of increasing demands for resource conservation, climate protection and regulatory requirements for the circular economy, they are addressing key challenges along the textile value chain. The focus is particularly on the quality requirements for recycled fibres – for instance, in terms of durability, processability and consistency – which are crucial for widespread industrial use. Furthermore, successful models of close and early cooperation between manufacturers, recyclers and other stakeholders are examined, as these are considered a prerequisite for functioning material cycles. In addition, concrete application examples illustrate how recycled fibres can already be used in various products today and what technological and organisational solutions are necessary to enable a high-quality and economically viable circular textile economy.
