The circular economy for textiles offers many advantages: reduced water and energy consumption, greater raw material efficiency and improved waste management. The production and recycling of fibres are highly complex processes involving a wide range of interconnected steps. The partners in the ‘Circular Textiles’ Spotlight Area use various stations to illustrate the textile cycle, from the processing of raw materials and the manufacture of textiles, through the collection and sorting of used textiles, to their recycling and reuse in new textile products. Visitors will learn more about the challenges and potential of circular textile manufacturing, the future organisation of the waste disposal and recycling system for used textiles, and new research approaches for the textile industry.
