Emmanuel Chaponniere is Head of Division in the Projects Directorate of the European Investment Bank, in charge of Circular Economy and Sustainable Development. Composed of sector specialists, this directorate is responsible for project appraisal (including technical, economic, environmental and social issues) and the monitoring of project implementation, as well as for sector studies and policy – including the EIB’s climate, environmental and social policies.

Prior to the EIB, Mr Chaponniere held various positions as a water sector specialist as well as waste expert in Europe and Africa. He graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (France) and a Master in Water Management from the Ecole Nationale du Génie Rural des Eaux et Forêts (France).
