This panel discussion brings together leading voices from politics, industry, science, and consulting to discuss this important issue. Representatives from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, the chemical industry, the plastics processing industry, and academic research will present their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in practice. The session will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Kathrin Greiff (RWTH Aachen University), who will open the discussion with a short keynote address. Each panelist will then give a brief opening speech, followed by a dynamic exchange on topics such as: How can EPR measures accelerate the transition to a circular economy? What role does EPR play in promoting innovation and competitiveness? Where are the current bottlenecks, and what regulatory or industrial measures are needed? How can different stakeholders—politics, business, and science—collaborate to make EPR effective? This forward-looking debate explores whether Extended Producer Responsibility can truly be the key to a sustainable transformation and industrial resilience.
