Achim Hartig is Managing Director at Germany Trade & Invest, where he leads the organisation’s “Invest” segment and oversees Germany’s global foreign direct investment activities. He works with international companies seeking to expand into Europe’s largest economy and supports German firms as they scale their operations abroad.
He serves as Chair of the OECD Network of Investment Promotion Agencies and sits on the OECD FDI Qualities Advisory Board, where he contributes to shaping international standards for sustainable and high‑value investment.
Achim’s career spans senior leadership roles in international management and strategy consulting. He has advised global clients across financial services, telecommunications and retail, and previously led Investment Controlling for the Berlin Senate, overseeing the strategic and financial governance of select public enterprises.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, he teaches Economy - Doing Business in Germany at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, bringing practical policy and investment insights into academic programmes.
He initially studied music, musicology and culture/media management in Berlin before completing studies in economics and business administration in London, where he earned an MBA in European Management.
