Katharina Habersbrunner (she/her) is a board member of Bündnis Bürgerenergie (BBEn), Germany’s leading umbrella organization supporting citizen energy initiatives and lobbying for an ambitious, decentralized, and socially just energy transition. As Chair of the Board at BENG eG, a dynamic citizen energy cooperative, she manages the development and implementation of solar, wind, storage, and district heating projects, empowering local communities with renewable solutions. Katharina also serves as Senior Energy Expert at Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), an international NGO advancing sustainable development, climate justice, and energy transition in Europe and Africa. She is a recognized advocate for integrating gender equality, community participation, and social innovation into climate and energy policy.
In 2020, Katharina was honored with the European Commission’s “Women in Energy” award for her longstanding commitment to gender equity and community-driven renewable energy. She holds a Diploma in Mathematics, a Master’s in Education and Psychology, and an MBA in Sustainability Management specializing in renewable energy.
